In the world of net, the debate rages whether the content is king or is it just a hype created by the internet writing faculty. If content is the king, then what about the links? Undoubtedly it is the queen!
A visitor reaches your website usually after he has visited many others. Everywhere he goes he finds sales pitch, all screaming for his attention and desperate to make a sale. He doesn’t find information; all that he finds is a salesman talking to him through the printed word, trying hard to monetize.
No one wants to read a salesman’s letter! Learn to make your content presell. It is an online relation building exercise which goes a long way in building trust and visitor/customer loyalty. Why should he trust the salesman, and in any case he is looking for information. He will believe what you have written in your content rich websites only if you develop trust in him. This takes me to the next point…….
You develop trust in a friend purely by the way he talks, the words that he uses, the tone of speaking…and so on. The same rule applies while you are doing your seo content writing. The tone of the writing should be such that the visitor develops trust in you and wants to read. While writing keyword content try to write in a friendly tone.
Many of the writers tend to show off their knowledge and expertise of the topic by using unnecessary technical jargon…sounds impressive to the reader no doubt, but how much does the visitor really understand or learn from such content article? This again takes me to the next point…..
Use simple language, the language which the common man understands. After all the visitor is not an expert otherwise he wouldn’t be hunting for information at all!! Use short crisp sentences and yes, remember the ‘Voice’… in grammatical terms, use active voice, passive voice tends to tire the brain!
Another very useful tip that I have found is that you just visualize your visitor/customer to the website. Try to visualize what he is looking for. He is looking for some authentic information and quality matter on the subject; not just an article put together by a college boy who is looking for some pocket money, and thus filing up the space with fluff and only beating around the bush, or repeating the same points again and again. Avoid this pitfall.
The visitor’s first impression of the website is the content. SEO content writing should be of a very high quality. If the quality is poor, your excellent graphics will not stop him from clicking on the back button or moving on to the next site. Hence research the topic well and write with conviction.
How you say, what you say and how you refer to your earning source, all these matter. The content that presells should be such that it will want to customer to monetize. He will want to click instead of you pushing him to it. Then alone your presell content is successful.
There are various ways of monetizing and let the customer decide how he would like to monetize your efforts. But this the customer will do only after he develops trust in what you are saying! Then alone the entire process is complete and you understand why the world says content is king!
Once you are satisfied with your work, you must always read aloud the content before dashing it off to the web master! You will be surprised at the changes that you will wish to make; such is the power of sound.
Write your content with confidence and faith and you will realize that why content is king in the World Wide Web!!
