There are few criteria for it and if these are fulfilled while writing articles, than full potential of article submission directory can be realized. To begin with, you must always research the niche keyword phrase that you are going to write your niche article on. If the keyword phrase is not researched properly the entire article can become useless!

Start writing in plain text editor. Just let your thoughts flow. Don’t worry about spellings and fine tuning aspect of the article. Just let the thoughts transform into words, as if you are talking to a friend. I have tried using a voice recorder too where I could record my voice and later transform it into the written word. I have found it to be helpful. Plain text editor ensures correct punctuation marks etc for your article.

Try to write between 400-700 words. Anything less than that is not considered a serious effort by articles link directory.

Now the time has come to spell check your article. Remember to check it in plain text editor and not in Word, because Word sometimes uses improper grammar and punctuation marks. If you wish may add a bit of HTML formatting. But don’t overdo it.

Next comes the most important part, the headline part. Be imaginative and do remember to place the targeted keyword phrase in the beginning of the headline. It should be attention grabbing and smart.

A short summary of 2-5 sentences or 2 paragraphs, depending on the article should be given. You must integrate few relevant keywords phrases too in the summary. It is the part which is picked up by the search engines and sells your article.

It is advisable not to place too many links in the article. Even single link works better when put in the resource box instead of the article. The free articles directory doesn’t tend to pickup such articles faster. But in any case you should never place a link in the first half of the article; it is a strict no no.

In case you wish to put a copyright notice then it should be also placed at the bottom of the article.

It is a good idea to place an active link or two in the resource box. The reader of the article is warmed up by reading the article and the resource box link will guide him to your web site. Any webmaster, who wishes to use this article for reprint in his website, needs to place the resource box in his website. The resource box is part of the article that gets posted on other webmaster sites and helps to build link popularity via inbound links.

When you believe that your article is ready for posting, just before sending it off, read it aloud. You will be amazed to see that it sounds so different from what you had in mind.

To How Many Free Articles Directories Should You Submit?

Now that your article is ready, start submitting your article to various free article directories. There is a wide range of article submission directories in the net, many writers believe that the more directories they submit their article to, the better it is. But let me tell you from my experience, it is not needed. Just submit article free to the top most article directories, say those with a page rank of 5 and above. Those article directories commonly will generate a better traffic volume to your website.
